Our unique work is community-led and innovative to support the goals and aspirations of every community.
Who We Are
SharingStories Foundation is a non-profit organisation that works with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to protect, maintain and grow language, stories and cultural heritage through digital technologies and vibrant artistic art forms for the benefit of all children today and future generations tomorrow.
Our ways of working
CHOICE AND CONTROL
Indigenous participants have self-determination in all aspects of program involvement, design, implementation, representation and outcomes.
Custodians determine what, how and where outcomes are shared in the public domain. All participants own the copyright to their work.
BOTH-WAYS
Our practice engages Elder and child, Indigenous and non-Indigenous, traditional and modern, oral storytelling and digital storytelling. We listen and work over the long-term to build relationships and a clear understanding of local protocols, sharing expertise to ensure Community Impact Goals are achieved.
CREATIVITY
Creativity is the vehicle we use to support cultural continuity. We work with communities to continually invent, adapt and adopt new ways to interpret cultural knowledge using a range of dynamic media art forms.
SUSTAINABILITY
Programs transfer skills to community arts and language workers building local capacity for ongoing cultural production. We work with facilitators and a network of regional delivery partners. All Creative Program outcomes are locally accessible.
